Hello Nancye, Heard you on WCAP and thought I’d drop you a line. A story is brewing in Lowell. I’m working with the Kun Khmer Federation writing grants. They have deep connections to Mickey ward, Dickey Eckland, Mark Walberg, Steve Pang.. Mark and his troop were at the KKF yesterday filming for something. Anyway, It’s the cultural aspect of the entire project that I would like to tell you about.
We are putting on a play in march called The Journey to Kun Khmer. The Kun Khmer Federation of Lowell will present a narrated play called “A Journey to Kun Khmer”. It will highlight Traditional Khmer boxing history, dating back to 802 AD. The listener will experience the journey as it brings us to modern day times. Kun Khmer is also called Pradal Serey, it was banned under the Khmer Rouge regime, many boxers were executed, nearly causing the art to be extinct. There will be a short black and white film from 1920′s that will highlight the many arts in Cambodia at that time to include Kun Khmer.
Today there is a grand opening at 75 Middlesex street @ 12-4. I would love to give you a tour and tell you more. There is so much more…. How these people met eachother is a facinating story. This is already big for Lowell with the connection to Mark Walberg. Lets talk soon. 508-517-4564. I heard a rumor that the Fighter will premire at LMA in December. Do you know anything about that? Janice

Hi Janice,
Glad to hear from you and would like to do something on this. I know that 60 Minutes was in Lowell filming something on Wahlberg, Ward, etc.
My days are pretty tight, since I am only in Lowell on Tuesdays and Thursdays and teach at Middlesex CC both days, noon-1:15. Maybe we could do something before my class on the 9th or something the following week. Let me know. My email is nancyedt@verizon.net.

hello thanks for the article.
You are absolutely a skilled writer. You definitely know how to write to keep the audience engaged. I need to read a lot more of your excellent writing style in the future.
Nancye, Heard you on WCAP today. What wonderful news, events and local, local, local happening you bring to the Merrimack Valley.
Tonights the night! Mickey Wards clan and just about the entier city are geared up for the Lowell screening of The Fighter. What a wonderful event I’ll have to find a way to crash it because I do not have a ticket.
The city is all a buzz. Everyone I talk to out on the street wants to know more about Mickey, Mickey and Mickey. Lowell has always had so many special people to brag about…Now the entire nation has it’s eyes on us. We are blessed.
See you at the movies…
Janice Pokorski
